Monster Island, the Asylum's 2019 mockbuster, was released around the same time as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The film centers on an island with the same title as the island itself where a monstrous lives.


The film's budget is about the same as a large child's meal, so the filmmakers chose to focus (original source) on a few people and shoot the main moments with the A-list cast during lunch. Remember, however, that this is a kaiju film, and that's basically of how things go, so maybe The Asylum won't do too badly with it.
